Hundreds of International Workforce Development Leaders
Attend Fall 2013 Chief Learning Officer Symposium

Conference focused on using enterprise education as a catalyst for
organizational growth and high performance

Chicago, Oct. 7, 2013 — More than 300 chief learning officers, corporate executives, human capital management experts and learning and development professionals gathered last week in Rancho Mirage, Calif., for the Fall 2013 Chief Learning Officer Symposium. Hosted by Chief Learning Officer magazine, the executive-level agenda focused on the power of workforce development and ways to use it as a strategic force for putting organizational vision into action.

Over the course of three days, the learning practitioners and industry thought leaders in attendance tackled both current challenges and future opportunities for enterprise education. Highlights included a variety of keynote presentations offering innovative ideas on leveraging learning as a catalyst for change, higher performance and business growth.

On day two of the conference, keynote speaker Charles Duhigg, author of "The Power of Habit: Why We Do What We Do in Life and Business," focused on how learning leaders have a particularly powerful opportunity to both change organizational habits and educate individuals to think about their habits and behaviors. Later, author and industry analyst Daniel Rasmus explored some of the critical uncertainties facing today's learning organizations. Sharing insights from his book, "Listening to the Future," he discussed how to better anticipate the future as it unfolds and systematically integrate what is "heard" into strategic planning and curriculum development.

The CLO Symposium agenda also featured panel discussions, feet-on-the-ground practitioner workshops and interactive sessions, as well as opportunities to meet and network with industry professionals and vendors. During a special dinner, sponsored by Saba and Interactive Video Learning, more than 60 learning professionals were honored as winners of the 2013 CLO Learning In Practice Awards. At the awards ceremony, Rob Lauber, vice president of Yum! University at Yum! Brands Inc., received the prestigious CLO of the Year honor — the industry's equivalent of a lifetime achievement award. Lauber was singled out for leading the evolution of Yum! University, a global corporate university charged with training and developing 1.4 million employees in more than 130 countries and territories.

Learning industry executives who were unable to attend the live event in California can access all the workshops, keynotes, panel discussions and presentations they missed during the upcoming Fall 2013 CLO Symposium Online Edition, airing live online Nov. 4-7, 2013, and on-demand Nov. 8, 2013, through Feb. 14, 2014. Registration for this free online event is now open. CLICK HERE to register.
