The stress, anxiety and uncertainty over the past year have steered workplaces away from wanting strict, aggressive and “traditional” forms of leadership and toward new strategies, such as showing compassion and even vulnerability.

In leadership, vulnerability is “the risk that we take on for connection, for helping people to rally around our ideas,” says Margot Bloomstein, brand strategist and principle of Appropriate, Inc. and author of “Trustworthy: How the Smartest Brands Beat Cynicism and Bridge the Trust Gap.”
