The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) has launched a search to find its new chief executive. Jackie Orme, who is on long-term sick leave as she undergoes treatment for cancer, has asked to stand aside from her duties as chief executive, with the intention of returning when her health allows to a different role at the institute and in the service of the HR profession.
The search is being led by Sam Allen Associates, on behalf of the CIPD board’s Remuneration Committee, chaired by CIPD President Gill Rider. The intention is to have a new chief executive in the post before the CIPD’s Annual Conference and Exhibition in November.
Said Rider: “This high-profile role offers the opportunity to lead an HR profession that is more confident, more global, more business focused and contributing ever more value to the organizations it serves.”
Orme will remain as chief executive until a successor is in place. She is focused on her treatment and rehabilitation, but intends to return to a different role.
Separately, as previously announced, Sue Upton has been appointed as the CIPD’s interim managing director, and continues in this role until a new chief executive is in place.
