Mountaineer, author, motivational speaker and leadership expert Paul Deegan presented a rousing closing keynote today at the Fall 2012 Chief Learning Officer Symposium. Concluding the meeting of top corporate learning executives hosted by Chief Learning Officer magazine, Deegan shared his inspiring adventures and his philosophy of “invisible leadership” with attendees.
Drawing on his experiences during expeditions to Alaska, the European Alps and the Himalayas, Deegan explained there can be no room for passengers on any team working to scale new heights whether geographical or competitive — and shared why he always ensures that every member of his team is more talented than he is. The keynote fittingly wrapped up a high-level, three-day agenda focused on “Learning That Lasts: Reaching New Levels of Performance.”
More than 300 chief learning officers, corporate executives, human capital management experts and learning and development professionals gathered in Colorado Springs for the Symposium, which is widely recognized as the premier conference for practitioners of strategic workforce development and was named Best Leadership Development Event in 2011 by Leadership Excellence magazine. During the event, leaders were able to network, share best practices and explore innovative techniques and technologies for building an effective long-term learning strategy. More than 60 learning and development professionals also were recognized for their achievements as winners of the 2012 Learning In Practice Awards.
Learning industry executives who were unable to attend the live event in Colorado can access all the workshops, keynotes, panel discussions and presentations they missed by attending the Fall 2012 CLO Symposium: Virtual Edition, Oct. 30-31, in the online Human Capital Media Convention Center. Registration for this free virtual event is now open on the Human Capital Media Conference Center.
