About Keith Keating, Ed.D.

Dr. Keith Keating is the Chief Learning & Development Officer at BDO Canada, where he holds the distinction of being the first person ever appointed to that role. With a career spanning more than 25 years in learning and development, Dr. Keating has built and led learning functions across some of the world’s most complex organizations, including General Motors, where he established a global learning network of 150,000 learners across nine countries, and HSBC, where he led the organization’s global learning transformation and subsequently ran learning for HSBC Asia.

Dr. Keating also serves as Lecturer in the Chief Learning Officer doctoral program at the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education, where he earned both his Master of Education and Doctor of Education degrees.

He is the author of two books: “The Trusted Learning Advisor” (Kogan Page, 2023), winner of the Goody Award, getAbstract Readers’ Choice 2024 and NYC Big Book Distinguished Favorite; and “Hidden Value: How to Reveal the Impact of Organizational Learning” (JetLaunch, 2025), winner of the Goody Award 2025, the International Business Book Award 2025, and shortlisted by getAbstract.

Dr. Keating is a recognized voice in the field, having been named CLO Learning Elite #9 (2019), ATD Speaker of the Year (2020), OnCon Top 10 Learning Leader (2024) and Brandon Hall Gold Learning Leader (2025). He has delivered keynotes at the World Economic Forum, Hoover Institute, DevLearn, Boeing and Wiley, among others.
