SUMMARY:The Secret Sauce to Enhance Digital Learning
DESCRIPTION:In the rush to be an agile company that adopts new digital learning technologies\, creates hundreds of new courses\, and disseminates them rapidly; we sometimes forget that training needs to be first and foremost about helping employees solve their day-to-day problems\, and then everything else. As a L&D and HR pro\, it is your responsibility to not just ‘train’ employees but actually create an environment conducive to learning and improved productivity. This would mean everything from rewarding employees for teaching others to adopting new learning tools that enable ‘learning in the flow of work’.

SUMMARY:PIVOT! From Learning Styles to Learning Competencies
DESCRIPTION:Have you ever taught a class where the attendees had different learning styles? Of course you have. How did you overcome this? \nFor many learning and development professionals\, designing training to a learning style provides opportunities for certain types of adult learners to engage with the content. But what if we didn’t necessarily worry about a learner’s preferred learning style? \nThe COVID-19 pandemic really threw a wrench in how we develop our employees. I often hear L&D professionals express their frustration at the lack of engagement they are now getting from their learners. In this webinar\, we will explore the value of building development programs through learning competencies\, empowering our learners to define and apply our content to their specific environment in a way that makes sense for them. \nThrough experiential learning methodologies\, we can move our training programs from “one and done” classes to ongoing development that serves the learner in a more personal manner.

SUMMARY:Do Away With Disconnection in Your Hybrid Workforce
DESCRIPTION:Forget forced socialization. According to a 2022 #VyondTheSurface survey of 1\,000 full-time employees at large companies across the U.S.\, common team-building activities\, such as game nights and virtual town halls\, are not the activities that drive employees to feel most connected at work. Instead\, respondents indicated they place the most value on participating in staff meetings\, receiving regular communication from leadership\, and getting to know colleagues on a more personal level\, particularly through video platforms. \nJoin us for a discussion of how organizations are working to provide ample opportunities for employees and teams to make genuine connections while also prioritizing regular communications about their organization’s mission and values\, and the tools and platforms that are helping them achieve the most success in doing so.

SUMMARY:Is Your Microlearning Strategy Learner-Centered? (and Why It Needs to Be!)
DESCRIPTION:Everyone wants to use microlearning and many of us are already doing so. But going micro is more than just delivering bite-sized content. It’s about focusing on the learner and their needs. There are many different use cases and formats for microlearning and they meet learner needs in different ways. This creates a tremendous challenge for us to identify the best design practices\, delivery approaches\, and implementation methods. When we understand HOW we are going micro\, and HOW we are meeting the learner’s needs\, we deliver microlearning that has value for the learner – and the organization too. \nAs a follow-up to her previous webinar with Training Magazine and OpenSesame\, Carla Torgerson\, Head of Learning Experience Strategy at TorranceLearning\, will identify how to go micro with the greatest impact for your learners. You will leave this session with a renewed focus on your learner\, fresh ideas for incorporating microlearning into your organization\, and practical tips to make those ideas a reality!

SUMMARY:Retention During Recession
DESCRIPTION:Recession brings increased gas prices\, higher costs at the grocery store and our employees’ paychecks not going as far as they used to. It also means that many businesses are faced with lower than predicted revenues\, leading to cutbacks or layoffs. In the midst of this\, retaining your key performers is critical to providing business continuity. This session will be useful for practitioners in professional industries looking to enhance their employee retention with low- or no-cost strategies. \nA 2022 McKinsey & Co. global survey revealed that the top three reasons employees have for quitting their last jobs are lack of career advancement\, inadequate total compensation and uncaring leaders. This session will provide strategies to address each of these areas under recessionary budget constraints with: \nDesigning a career advancement path when the business is at a standstill. \nStrategies to enhance the traditional “total rewards” package including supplementary insurance and paid time off. \nOpportunities to connect your leaders and employees to the shared mission.

SUMMARY:Personalization: Bridging the Gap Between Learning and Performance
DESCRIPTION:The rise of enterprise application software in the near and long term demonstrates that the trend toward digital transformation is not a one or two year trend\, rather it is systemic and long-term. Remote work brought in some much-needed changes to the learning experience. Mandatory week-long training sessions were replaced with more tailored experiences that cater to individual employees’ schedules and needs. \nA one-size-fits-all approach is clearly not serving the needs of enterprises. Learners need more frequent and targeted contextual learning experiences to be successful in the long term. Most companies don’t have the strategy\, content\, or technology in place to execute this. Delivering personalization at scale is the key to improving individual performance and organizational performance. \nIn this session\, we will talk about how L&D leaders can build an adaptive learning environment that provides people with exactly what they need\, when they need it\, in order to build knowledge and skills that align with the organizational goals.

SUMMARY:Building a Coachability Culture: A New Catalyst for Impact
DESCRIPTION:In recent years\, organizations have invested heavily in building coaching cultures. One of the most robust recent global studies cites nearly $3 billion dollars spent annually for organizational coaching initiatives\, such as coach-skills training for managers. To maximize the impact of coaching practices and cultures\, some innovative and dynamic organizations are starting to add a new catalyst for improvement by investing in the coachability of leaders and the workforce. \nPrompting these increased investments is a rapidly growing body of research highlighting the great value of coachability for organizational effectiveness. For example\, highly coachable leaders have been found to foster greater levels of employee engagement and retention. Across employees (i.e.\, leaders and individual contributors)\, research shows highly coachable individuals achieve significantly higher levels of performance\, agility\, and promotability. In fact\, one study indicated coachability matters more than the coaching skills of the manager for learning\, performance\, and agility. As such\, the impact of focusing on coaching without coachability may prove costly. Investing in workforce coachability can be a catalyst to complement organizational improvement initiatives\, such as coaching practices\, leadership bench-building\, DEI training\, and workforce upskilling.

SUMMARY:The State of Learning Analytics: Views from 1000 L&D Professionals
DESCRIPTION:What is the current state of learning analytics? Is measurement that drives data-driven decisions a pipedream or a reality? In 2021 Watershed\, LEO Learning\, and CLO surveyed 1000+ L&D leaders and professionals to gain valuable insights into current capabilities and the desired future state of learning analytics within global organizations. \nOur findings set out the current state of play for how L&D approaches measurement. We asked comprehensive questions on: \nCurrent demand (who is asking for reports\, and on what?) \nCurrent technical capabilities (technology stacks\, ecosystems\, and placement on measurement maturity models) \nCurrent operational capabilities (team shape\, skill sets\, and job roles) \nDesired future state (ideal measurement goals vs current state) \nBill Conran\, Watershed’s VP of Strategy and Business Development\, will present key results and findings. He’ll be joined by special guest speaker Bonnie Beresford\, GP Strategies’ Senior Director of Performance and Learning Analytics\, who brings a wealth of hands-on practical experience to the conversation. \nIn this session\, you will: \nDiscover what your peers are doing\, the tech they are using\, and where they place on measurement maturity models. \nExplore key trends; from L&D’s need to embed ‘business impact metrics’ into learning design to the importance of nurturing a data-driven mindset. \nGet ideas\, tips\, and inspiration based on real examples to progress your organization’s approach to learning analytics. \nHave the opportunity to access our reports yourself after the webinar to apply your own thoughts and context to our results. Do you agree with our interpretation?
